Today is the first day of meteorological winter, so it seems to be the perfect time for our fall wrap-up.
Home improvements continued into the fall. We are particularly proud of our new composite (read: no maintenance for 20+ years) deck. A crummy patio area was transformed into a lovely space to entertain friends, enjoy fair-weather days, and for future little ones to play splinter- and scrape-free.

We're also enjoying a couple more finishing touches. Custom curtains keep our bedroom dark when we sleep in on Saturday mornings and add color. And our gas log makes fireside snuggles easy, while warming up the whole house!
Lillian has been keeping busy at work and with "extra-curricular" political activity. Here she is with the next President of the United States -- she hopes!!Matt has been working extremely hard preparing lesson plans for his new teaching position. But the long hours (and Matt's energetic style) are paying off: He has been getting rave reviews from students and school administrators alike!
Halloween was a special treat for both of us. Dozens and dozens of children in our neighborhood stopped by to show off their costumes and scoop up candy. Our favorite visitor was this cute little duckling.Thanksgiving was spent with Lillian's family in Chicagoland. Matt was hoping to see some early snow, but it wasn't cold enough to stick. We enjoyed seeing Lillian's sister's home and office for the first time, and cooking one last big meal in Mom's kitchen before it is renovated. But we won't miss not having a dishwasher next time!
