September opened with new jobs for both Matt and Lillian. Matt found a position teaching 6th grade math at a local elementary school, and Lillian became the Director of Policy for Liberty Central, an organization launched earlier this year by Ginni Thomas, wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.
We had barely started our new jobs when Labor Day took on an all-new meaning. Lillian was working hard over the long weekend to avoid missing her first deadline, and started getting contractions the night of Labor Day. They passed quickly and Matt headed to work on Tuesday morning for his first day with the 6th graders. But on Tuesday night, Lillian's water broke nearly three weeks earlier than expected. We scrambled to get ready to go to the hospital, and just 5 hours later Mark Matthew Vogl was taking his first breaths!
