1st Anniversary & Getting Ready for Baby

Celebrating Our 1st Anniversary!

May 5 marked our 1st anniversary. So much has happened in the past year that it seems like much longer. Yet the year went by so fast that we still haven't made prints of our wedding photos! (But Lillian's mom came to the rescue and put together some great collage frames for an anniversary present.)

To celebrate the auspicious day, we took a 3-day weekend trip to Charlottesville. We stayed in a fantastic nuveau-bed & breakfast called Cedar Spring Inn. The weather was just perfect, sunny and 70s, so we got to enjoy delicious breakfasts on the porch and an afternoon dip in the heated pool. It was a perfect anniversary get-away!

Baby Showers Galore

Our friends, family, and even coworkers and clients have showered us with generosity to help us get ready for the arrival of our baby! We've hardly had to buy anything but furniture ourselves.

Faith and Alexis Vogl threw a fabulous baby shower for Lillian and Baby in late April. We enjoyed a tasty luncheon, fun shower games (particularly guessing which melted chocolate bar was in each diaper), and lots of gifts and laughs.

Matt's school also threw a joint baby shower for the two science department teachers who are expecting babies in June (Matt and Nacera). And to top it all off, the members of WANIDES, one of Lillian's pro bono clients, had a tea party shower for us. (Check out their website - they're a wonderful, small local charity.)

Almost Time for Baby

Grandmas Hamilton and Vogl have been putting their talents to work to help prepare an adorable room for their first grandchild. Grandma Hamilton designed and sewed the valences and crib skirt shown here, and Grandma Vogl hand-painted a bookshelf (soon to be delivered). With all this aesthetic spoiling from her grandmothers, we think Baby's favorite TV show will soon be "Design on a Dime."

And now it's just a little over a week until Baby is due! She's doing plenty of squirming and seems eager to get out of her tight quarters. Lillian's doctor predicts she'll be right on time, plus or minus a couple of days, and 8 to 8 1/2 lbs. Let's see if he's right! (Mommy hopes she's on the smaller side of that prediction.)
